Soothe Sunburns
To soothe a sunburn, mix 1 cup (250 mL) corn starch into a tub
of warm water. Soak 20 to 30 minutes, or apply a wet corn starch
and baking soda dressing. Stir 1 tablespoon (15 mL) each of corn
starch and baking soda into two quarts (2 L) of warm water, dip
gauze pads and let them rest on sunburn for 20 to 30 minutes.
Baby Powder
Pure corn starch is a natural, economical baby powder.
Use everyday to protect against diaper rash.
TIP: Reuse empty baby powder can!
Protect Infants Tender Skin
To protect an infants tender skin, add 1/4 cup (50 mL) corn starch
for each gallon of bath water. Stir in water and bathe as usual. Pat
rather than rub your baby dry. Corn starch will leave a soothing,
silky smooth film.
Irritated skin
Itchy or irritated skin is soothed by soaking in a tub of warm
water mixed with 1 cup (250 mL) of corn starch.
